Tamara Gaines, Mount Airy Native and Volunteer Coordinator for Trellis Supportive Care
"It’s heartwarming to hear the stories from families who have had loved ones under Hospice Care. It shows we truly abide by our mission statement. Providing well-rounded care; not only medically but emotionally, spiritually and socially. I am proud to be part of this team, knowing my hometown [of Mt. Airy] is being touched."
Mt. Airy is a town of close-knit relationships. Tamara Gaines, Trellis Supportive Care's Volunteer Coordinator, has enjoyed seeing her hometown evolve and grow in recent years, but still relishes in the fact that neighbors know each other by name. Because of the exceptional care Trellis Supportive Care provides for Mt. Airy residents, her friends and neighbors are also beginning to know Trellis Supportive Care by name.
As a volunteer coordinator, Tamara is responsible for organizing community outreach events and training the volunteers in Surry County and Stokes County. She has lived in Surry County for most of her life and recently moved back to her hometown of Mt. Airy. Tamara knew that the opportunity to work with Trellis Supporive Care, North Carolina's original hospice and palliative care provider, and serve her community was perfect for her.
